Beer GuidePut all thoughts of moderation away, Oktoberfest is all about one thing and one thing only.. drinking! Beer advocates will be spoilt for choice at Oktoberfest, with some of world's finest beers on sale with each tent specialising in local brews. Some of the most popular beers are the Augustiner, Paulaner, Spaten-Franziskaner, Löwenbräu, Hacker-Pschorr and Hofbräu. Bavarian beers conform to strict purity regulations enacted since the 16th century, guaranteeing you a world class beer.

Around 30% of Munich's annual production is consumed during the Oktoberfest, no mean feat considering Bavarians are renowned for their heroic beer drinking. Generally of an amber hue, the Oktoberfest larger is derived from Vienna roasted malt, resulting in a fine bodied beer with subtle hop notes. This "liquid gold" retails at 8.30 € to 8.60 € for one litre or "mass" of beer, pretty cheap when you consider the size and quality of the beers.
